A simple, rapid (~5 min), multiplexed and low-cost lateral flow test strip for simultaneous detection of Cymbidium Mosaic Virus and Odontoglossum Ringspot Virus infections in commercial orchid production and quarantine.

The proposed project is targeted towards development and commercialization of a cost effective, rapid, user friendly multiplex LFA test for simultaneous colour coded detection of both the viruses using recombinant single chain variable fragment antibodies produced against CymMV and ORSV as capture molecules and respective polyclonal antibodies as detection molecules. This product will be used by orchid nurseries, growers, tissue culture facilities and quarantine authorities to effectively screen the orchid plants for presence of viruses to prevent unintended spread of the viruses to healthy stock and also to provide healthy planting material.
