The project aims at design and development of an equipment that can create multiscale scaffolds for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. The enabling technology for the proposed device is advanced manufacturing combined with automation. The reason behind conceptualising the problem was the fact that the existing techniques of tissue culture, including bio-printing which is one of the most advanced techniques, struggles with vasculature. The whole idea of multiscale scaffold was to create scaffolds with structures ranging from a few hundred nanometers to a few hundred microns. While the sub-millimeter structures are to be created with fused deposition modelling the sub-micron structures will be fabricated by electrospinning.
